Advocates want special session to address wait times at DSS call center

As a Department of Social Services call center continues to struggle with wait times, some are worried the problem will get worse thanks to changes under the Big Beautiful Bill.

They’re worried those changes will lead to even longer wait times and, ultimately, people losing their Medicaid, SNAP and other benefits if they can’t reach someone for help.

A group of Disability Rights Advocates are asking the legislature to fix the problem now with more funding and other steps to ensure the Client Information Line and Benefits Center can meet its demand.
