Healthcare ransomware attacks up 14%: 5 things to know

Healthcare organizations worldwide faced 410 ransomware attacks in the first half of 2026, up nearly 14% from the 360 attacks recorded in the second half of 2025, according to a July 9 report from Comparitech.

Of the 410 attacks, 247 hit hospitals, clinics and other direct care providers, up about 3% from the prior half. The remaining 163 hit healthcare businesses, such as pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, medical billing companies and health tech firms, up nearly 35%.
